Color 2010 - Fourth and Final Color in the Series

Gray - yes gray is a color just like white and black. For the interior decorators in 2010 gray is the "coolest" yet "hottest" color for the upcoming year. Interior Artistry has been working with shades of gray in two homes already this year, one is a an upscale home built with great modern design rich in architecture, as well as a new condo getting ready for a June move in along the lakeshore in Chicago.
By using gray we can "pop" so many other colors into that nuetrul gray pallette that interior designers love, and get a sleek clean look that is so super trendy and upscale. Being a color expert at Interior Artistry using gray as a nuetral background for a color pallette gives the opportunity to "show off" other colors.
Accent colors for the upcoming 2010 as set by the interior design industry will be pinks, red, blues, violets and yellows.
Blues are still flirting with greens and violets to create and easy color design. Complementray and contrasting blues are already being paried with orange, yellow and green in the clothing industry. The interior design industry follows the fashion industry in color so soon we expect to find them in the home shortly. At Interior Artistry we are on the lookout for great accessories in those sun-drenched yellows and military golds, hot and berry pinks and red, electric blues and torqouises, rich plums, and boysenberries.
It is always and exciting time to see the changes in the design industry, that's why at Interior Artistry we find look forward to what's new and coming.

Color 2010 - Third Series

Ready for a zinger - the hot new color, and I mean when you use it, it is hot and will "pop" your eyes in a room, that color is Orange. Orange warms a home, even when used with deep dark rich shades, the color still pops. Interior designers love to add orange to a cool gray, a rich chocolate brown. As we move toward 2010, expect shade of red-oranges, rich sienna tones, and straight-up secondary orange hues to fill out interior designers use of the color orange. Interior Artistry uses orange to show positive energy and creativity in a home living space for an overall sense of well-being and comfort.

Our team at Inteior Artistry loves to garden, and orange in the garden is always a great pop against the green foliage and brown mulch in the yard. Soon we will be going to the garden store, look for those wonderful shades taken from nature in the Marigolds, Poppies and those fiery Red Hot Poker flowers. Marrying the orange with it's direct compliment of purple will give you a show stopping garden, purple Salvia is my suggestion for a great color contrast.

Color 2010 - second series

You guessed it - the second most popular color is Green. Green is everywhere. Just as brown is the new black, green has become the new and easy to live with color. Not your mothers old Avocado- or maybe your mom had the Harvest Gold appliances. We lived with avocado green sculpted carpet in the living, dining room as well as going up the stairs and down the hallway for many years. The greens we are seeing now are much brighter and fresher.
Green isn't only growing because of the movement to be eco friendly, it is a color that signifies life, nature, growth and renewel.
The green of 2010 will reflect earthy hues, fresh and revitalized yellow-greens. The yellow undertone will be the new change factor for the upcoming year. We will also see pastel shades such as celadon, lemon and shades leaning into the blues-greens of tropical waters.
Green is a great design color and adds great life and love to a room.
Go GREEN!!!

Color 2010

Did you know that 64% of all decisions made on a daily basis are based on color. Isn't that amazing, just think about it - what you eat, what you are wearing, matching your clothing, socks, shoes etc. it all involves color.
Brown is the natural and neutral earth scene in the home through 2010. Brown is the leading color in home furnishings today. Brown is earthy, rich, can be seen in metallic finishes. The rich oil rubbed bronze in our bathrooms being show are all the favorite in the building industry today. Browns/nuetrals are an easy color to add other colors too, examples of that are of course the very popular rich chocolate brown with shades of blue. You can find that combination in bedding, tableware and bath accessories. Also the creams, ivories, and beiges in a great contemporary setting mixed with natural woods in flooring creating a soothing, comforting space to live. Gray is the new side of this nuetral tone, accented with creams and ivories for a soothing space or brought to a vibrant space with brights like orange and fuscia.
Come back soon to learn about the industries prediction for our second color.

Great new hardware being introduced into the drapery industry. It is somewhat of a throwback to the 60's - the newest is a modern lucite drapery rod, gorgeous lucite ball finial and brushed nickel hardware. This would be great to use in a bathroom to hang a shower curtain - what a statement that would make, this rod would sparkle and shine off the mirrors in the room. In a dining room the rod could be a sleek modern look or a formal elegant look, either way you cannot make a mistake using this new rod. I would love to see this rod right here in NW Indiana at one of my interior design clients home, she has a beautiful shade of green on the walls with great moldings in the room, her elegant antique chandelar would be a great statement to this modern lucite rod.

Yellow for 2009

Wow - let's talk about color. I love color and get many calls to help clients in NW Indiana with color selections for their home. According to the color authority in the design industry, Pantone named YELLOW the hot trend for 2009. So - hello yellow. Yellow is showing up in rugs, dishware, furniture, really almost anything you can think of. Yellow is being defined in the golds as well, not just rubber duckie yellow, but the rich royalty of the shade. Recently I was taken aback by a wonderful rug by Anthropologie in their Chicago store, it is called the Coqo Floral Rug in yellow, you can check it out at www.anthropologie.com.
Yellow can be a difficult color to select for walls because it always seems to come out bolder than you expect - the way to correct that from the start is to select a shade one or two shades lighter than you think you want. Yellow is a color for joy - it just makes people smile, maybe that's why a smiley face is always yellow.
Next time you are out shopping or shopping online keep an eye out for these new rich shades of yellow - watch for your daffodils to soon be popping up in your yard here in Indiana as well.

A few weeks later - walla - here is your custom bag. If you haven't already, you should check it out. In the design business I always need a bag- and bigger the better.
